Coach Highlight – Jewel Willis Thomas

CM: Why did you enter TCE? And/or, what did you want to get out of it?

JWT: I wanted to own and operate my own coaching business. After investigating coach training programs, I decided that TCE would offer me the training, expertise and support I needed to achieve my goals. The training that TCE offered was unique and aligned with my previous training I have received.

My expectations entering the program were:

  • To learn an effective method of coaching
  • To experience personal growth To learn the business fundamentals of setting up a coaching business
  • To gain experience coaching others
  • To be a part of a community of coaches

CM: What is the most valuable thing you got out of TCE?

JWT: It is difficult to pinpoint the most valuable thing I got out of TCE, there are several: I learned an effective structure for coaching. I learned the power of being curious and not leading with my assumptions. I was offered lots of support and got plenty of opportunities to practice coaching skills.

Participating in TCE was also great for my personal development. The program helped me to get in touch with my own assumptions. It helped me to see the ways that I get in my own way and how the assumptions I make had stopped me from attaining my goals. I uncovered my reluctance to make requests because of my assumptions and how that negatively impacted my relationships. All in all, participating in the program accomplished the training goals I had set for myself and so much more.

CM: Did your reasons for entering the program change through the program?

JWT: No, my reasons for entering the program did not change.

CM: What are you doing now with your coaching education?

JWT: My original plan was to immediately set up my coaching  upon completing the program. My husband has been chronically ill and I have delayed starting my coaching business.. I am a chaplain and I use my coaching skills extensively.
